If there’s one thing a Supernatural fan knows, it’s that research is a key trait of a good hunter. With a universe full of monsters, demons, spirits, and more, there is a lot for a hunter to keep track of! Luckily, Insight Editions is partnering with Warner Bros. (and the Men of Letters) to provide us with a timeless tool called Supernatural: The Men of Letters Bestiary. The bestiary will be an illustrated, comprehensive, in-world guide to every creature encountered in the Supernatural universe. From Abaddon to a wendigo, this book will have all the info you need to stay safe, and stop the monster.
Based on John Winchester’s journal, the bestiary will be a hardcover book with several pages of information on the in-world creatures a hunter could encounter, as well as blank pages to add your own adventures. And before you worry that this journal will be full of opinions of Men of Letters members who are long dead, the journal is full of commentary from Sam and Dean Winchester themselves. How Sam got Dean to sit still long enough to help create a resource like this, we may never know…
But of course, all of the creatures in the Supernatural-verse aren’t bad…well, at least they usuallyaren’t bad (who among us has gotten a bit…morally ambiguous when possessed by hordes of leviathan or the devil himself, right?). So to help hunters understand one of the more complex supernatural, angelic creatures, you can even find an entry on everyone’s favorite angel, Castiel.
If you want to get your hands on a copy of the bestiary for your own hunter library, you can order one now, or grab a copy when it releases on September 12–a month prior to the Supernatural season 13 premiere!
What do you think of The Men of Letters Bestiary? What other hunter tools from the Supernatural universe would you like to see turned into fan merch? Tell us what you think in the comments!
